ANDRITZ Bearing Housing is the stationary casting or fabrication that supports the pump shaft bearings, maintains their correct axial and radial position relative to the casing, and contains the lubricant (oil or grease) that ensures reliable bearing operation. In overhung impeller pumps, the bearing housing is typically a separate bracket assembly bolted to the casing back cover. In between-bearings pumps, the bearing housings are separate end units mounted to the casing on the drive and non-drive ends.
The bearing housing must satisfy multiple design requirements: provide precise concentricity between the bearing bores and the shaft centerline, maintain correct alignment with the casing bore, accommodate thermal expansion of the shaft without over-constraining the bearings, contain lubricant without leakage past the shaft seals, and allow heat dissipation from the bearing operating temperature. A bearing housing that fails on any of these parameters — due to casting distortion, bore misalignment, seal groove error, or core shift during casting — will compromise the entire pump assembly regardless of the quality of the bearings and shaft installed inside it.
