Product Overview

ANDRITZ Pump Coupling is the mechanical device that connects the pump shaft to the driver (electric motor, engine, or turbine) to transmit torque while accommodating minor misalignment between the two shafts. The coupling also provides controlled axial float for thermal expansion and dampens torsional vibration that would otherwise be transmitted back into the pump and driver bearings.

Three main types of flexible couplings are used in ANDRITZ pumps:

  • Elastomeric (Rubber/Polyurethane) Coupling — Uses a flexible element between two flanged hubs. Provides vibration damping and electrical isolation. Most common for standard process pumps up to 200 kW. Examples: Lovejoy jaw-type, Centaflex, Fenaflex
  • Grid Coupling — Uses a serpentine spring steel grid that engages both hub teeth. High torque density and excellent shock load capacity. Common in slurry and heavy-duty pump service
  • Diaphragm / Disc Coupling — Uses a flexible metal diaphragm pack or disc pack to transmit torque. Zero backlash, no wearing parts, and maintenance-free. Specified for high-speed and high-temperature pumps where elastomeric elements would degrade
