FLOWSERVE Pump Shaft is the central rotating component of a centrifugal pump, transmitting torque from the motor or driver to the impeller. It must withstand torsional loads, bending moments from impeller weight and hydraulic forces, and cyclic fatigue over extended service intervals. The shaft also serves as the mounting surface for bearings, seals, impellers, and shaft sleeves.
Shaft failure is a critical event that can cause complete pump breakdown. Common failure modes include fatigue fracture at keyway stress concentrations, bending from excessive vibration or misalignment, wear at seal and bearing journal surfaces, and corrosion pitting in aggressive fluid environments. A properly manufactured shaft — with correct material, precise journal finishes, and appropriate heat treatment — directly determines pump reliability and mean time between failures (MTBF).
Our FLOWSERVE replacement shafts are produced from certified bar stock or forged blanks, fully machined on CNC lathes and grinders, and individually inspected for dimensional accuracy, runout, and surface finish. FARO 3D scanning is available for reverse engineering when original drawings are unavailable.
