Share your pump model and balance drum requirements — our engineering team will verify compatibility and provide a detailed technical proposal.
Our brand was established to deliver integrated technical solutions in the fluid machinery and engineering sectors. Backed by a complete portfolio of specialized technologies and product lines, we offer clients expert technical consultation, commercial support, and bundled product solutions — from pumps and frequency converters to servo drives, PLC-HMI, industrial control cabinets, motors, mechanical seals and assemblies, couplings, gearboxes, and full-cycle engineering services (overseas on-site 3D scanning reverse molding of pump replacement parts and field equipment debugging by our dispatched engineers internationally).
FLOWSERVE Balance Drum (also called balance disc or thrust balance device) is a precision hydraulic component used in multi-stage centrifugal pumps to compensate for axial thrust. In a multi-stage pump, the pressure differential across each impeller generates an unbalanced axial force that pushes the rotor assembly toward the suction end. If uncompensated, this thrust loads the bearings excessively and leads to premature bearing failure and mechanical seal damage.
The balance drum works by maintaining a controlled high-pressure chamber at the pump's discharge side. A thin fluid film between the rotating drum and the stationary balance disc creates a hydraulic force that opposes the impeller thrust. By carefully sizing the drum diameter and the balancing hole dimensions, the hydraulic force is tuned to nearly cancel the axial thrust — typically achieving residual thrust levels below 5% of full impeller thrust.
Common failure modes include wear at the drum-disc interface (from contaminated fluid or dry running), erosion from high-velocity leakage past the balance drum lands, and cracking from thermal cycling. Our replacement balance drums are reverse-engineered using FARO 3D laser scanning to capture the drum diameter, balancing hole geometry, and sealing land profiles — ensuring precise fit and correct thrust balance.

Q1: Are you a factory or a trading company?
A: We are an integrated engineering and manufacturing company specializing in fluid machinery solutions, with in-house casting, CNC machining, and quality control capabilities for pump balance drums and replacement parts.
Q2: What payment methods do you accept?
A: T/T, L/C, D/P, PayPal, Western Union, and small-amount payment arrangements are all supported.
Q3: I don't have original drawings. Can you still supply it?
A: Yes. Send us the worn balance drum or photographs with the drum diameter and balancing hole dimensions marked. We use FARO 3D laser scanning to capture the full geometry and produce a dimensionally interchangeable replacement.
Q4: What material should I choose?
A: Tell us your fluid medium, temperature, and operating pressure. We will recommend the correct material grade and surface treatment for your specific service conditions.
Q5: What is the delivery time?
A: 30 days after deposit for standard cast iron. Stainless steel or special surface treatments: 45–60 days.
Q6: What warranty do you provide?
A: 12 months from commissioning or 18 months from shipment date, whichever occurs first.
