FLOWSERVE Volute Casing (also called pump casing or volute housing) is the primary pressure-containing structure of a centrifugal pump. It collects the liquid discharged by the impeller and converts the kinetic energy into pressure energy through the gradually expanding spiral volute passage. The casing also houses the impeller, defines the hydraulic passages, and provides the mounting interface for the suction and discharge nozzles, bearing brackets, and sealing elements.

The volute casing is a complex, often thin-walled casting that must withstand the pump's rated working pressure, resist erosion from high-velocity fluids, and maintain precise internal geometry for optimal hydraulic efficiency. Common failure modes include corrosion erosion from abrasive or aggressive fluids, stress cracking at high-pressure ratings, and wear at the cutwater (volute tongue) where the spiral passage meets the impeller discharge.

Our replacement FLOWSERVE volute casings are reverse-engineered to exact OEM dimensions and hydraulic profile. FARO 3D laser scanning captures the full internal geometry — including the volute spiral passage, cutwater geometry, bearing housings, and flange faces — ensuring drop-in interchangeability with the original.
