Product Overview

Pump Shaft is the central rotating component that transmits torque from the motor or driver to the impeller. The shaft must withstand torsional loads during start-up and normal operation, bending moments from impeller weight and hydraulic radial force, and cyclic fatigue over years of continuous service. It also serves as the mounting surface for bearings, mechanical seals, impellers, and shaft sleeves — making its dimensional accuracy and surface quality critical to the reliability of every rotating component on the pump.

Shaft failure typically occurs through one of several mechanisms: fatigue fracture at keyway stress concentrations or step transitions; bending from excessive vibration or misalignment; wear at bearing and seal journal surfaces where lubrication is marginal; or corrosion pitting in aggressive fluid environments that act as stress raisers and initiate cracking. A shaft manufactured to incorrect material specification, improper heat treatment, or loose dimensional tolerances will compromise every component mounted on it.

Our replacement pump shafts are produced from certified bar stock or forged blanks, fully machined on CNC lathes and precision grinders, and individually inspected for dimensional accuracy, concentricity, runout, and surface finish at every critical location. FARO 3D scanning is available for reverse engineering from an existing or damaged shaft.

How to Order
  1. Submit Pump Details — Pump model and shaft part number preferred. Alternatively, provide overall length, bearing journal diameters and positions, seal journal diameter, impeller fit diameter, keyway dimensions, and shaft end thread details
  2. Material & Treatment Selection — Specify fluid conditions (type, temperature, pressure, abrasives) — we recommend the optimal material grade and any required surface hardening or coating
  3. Quotation — Formal quotation with material grade, heat treatment, surface finish, lead time, and unit price
  4. Production — Manufacturing upon deposit; in-process inspection at rough machining, heat treat, and finish grinding stages
  5. Dispatch — After balance payment; dimensional report, material certificate, and NDT records included
