• Reverse engineering – If no drawing is available, the hub is 3D laser scanned and measured so a working model can be rebuilt to match the original bore, keyway, and element-seat geometry.
• Material selection – The hub is often made from cast iron or carbon steel for general duties; stainless or alloy steel may be chosen where the environment is wet, corrosive, or subject to washdown. The elastomeric element is normally a polyurethane (urethane) grade suited to the duty.
• Machining – The bore, keyway, element pocket, and bolt circle are CNC machined so the hub stays concentric with the shaft and aligns with the matching half of the coupling.
• Inspection – Bore diameter and tolerance, keyway dimensions, element-seat concentricity, and surface finish are checked before release; dynamic balancing can be arranged where the speed calls for it.
