GOULDS Pump Casing (also referred to as the volute casing, pump housing, or lower casing half in horizontally split designs) is the stationary pressure-containing component that surrounds the impeller and converts kinetic energy from the discharged fluid into pressure energy through its progressively expanding volute channel. The casing also provides the suction and discharge nozzle connections, the mounting feet for baseplate attachment, and the register fits for the casing cover or stuffing box cover.
GOULDS pump casings are available in several configurations depending on the pump series: end-suction volute (most common for GOULDS 3196/HT3196 series and similar process pumps), horizontally split (suction and discharge nozzles on the lower half for ease of rotor access without disturbing piping), and vertical inline (discharge at centerline for self-venting). Within each configuration, the casing bore diameter determines the impeller trim allowance, the wall thickness defines the pressure rating, and the nozzle orientation affects installation piping flexibility.
Our GOULDS replacement pump casings are produced from FARO 3D scanning data or original drawings, using resin sand or V-process casting, CNC-machined on all critical interfaces, and hydrostatically pressure tested before dispatch.
