Product Overview

NETZSCH Rotor is the single-helix rotating element of a progressing cavity pump (PCP). The rotor's external single-helix profile fits inside the double-helix elastomer liner of the stator, creating a series of sealed cavities that progress axially from the suction end to the discharge end as the rotor turns. Each rotor revolution advances one cavity length, producing a fixed volume of discharge flow proportional to rotational speed.

The rotor for NETZSCH NEMO, Tornado, and progressing cavity pump series is available in a wide range of materials to match the fluid service. Common rotor materials include chrome steel (hard chrome plated), stainless steel (304, 316L), precipitation-hardening stainless (17-4PH), duplex stainless, and high-chrome white iron or Hastelloy for severe service. The rotor surface is typically hard chrome plated or coated with tungsten carbide, Stellite, or ceramic coating to resist abrasive wear from solids in the pumped fluid.

Each NETZSCH rotor has a defined geometry defined by the pump size code: rotor diameter, helix pitch (the axial distance per half rotation), number of heads, and the direction of rotation (right-hand or left-hand helix). The rotor is mounted on the pump shaft by a key and locknut, or by a spline connection for larger pump sizes.

Our NETZSCH replacement rotors are precision-machined from certified bar or forgings, dynamically balanced, and surface-treated for the specified fluid service, with full dimensional and material certification.

Rotor Types & Geometry

Type

Helix Profile

Key Feature

Typical NETZSCH Application

Standard Single-Head Rotor

Single continuous helix

Most common profile; wide range of NETZSCH sizes

NEMO standard series, general industrial

Multi-Head Rotor

Two or more parallel helical lobes

Higher flow at lower speed; smoother discharge

Tornado lobe pump series, high-capacity

Short-Pitch Rotor

Reduced helix pitch for higher pressure capability

Higher discharge pressure per stage

High-pressure NEMO applications

Conveying Rotor

Open helix without contact pressure

Designed for dry or semi-dry conveying rather than liquid pumping

NETZSCH conveying pump series

Why Choose Our NETZSCH Rotors
  • Exact Helix Geometry — Rotors are machined to reproduce the helix pitch, lead, and profile of the original NETZSCH design, ensuring the cavity volume and displacement per revolution match the original pump performance curve
  • Dynamic Balancing — Every rotor is dynamically balanced before dispatch to prevent vibration-induced wear on the stator liner and bearing assembly
  • Full Coating Range — Hard chrome, HVOF tungsten carbide, Stellite, and ceramic coatings available to match the rotor's wear environment in abrasive and corrosive service
  • Material Traceability — Raw material certifications, heat treatment records, and hardness test results provided with each rotor
  • Custom Geometry for Legacy Pumps — FARO 3D scanning of an existing rotor enables reverse production of replacement rotors for discontinued or superseded NETZSCH models
